Gardening's Gone Glam

Gardening's Gone Glam

These copper tools were a birthday gift I purchased for the hubby that I will openly admit caught my designer eye too (who are they really for?).  I mean just look at them; they're works of art, practically sculptures!  With their bronze gleam and hearty wood handles (I added the leather ties for easy hanging storage) I couldn't help but create a hand-picked set of tools based on what I thought would be most useful in our future backyard gardening space.

Interested in getting your hands on a set too?  Well, they're made in Germany and not many retailers carry them in the U.S., but I was able to order them from here with the whole line of PKS Bronze tools to choose from.  And I'll tell you, each one is so beautifully crafted that it became quite the decision making process for me.  They are expensive considering big box store gardening tool prices, but something to keep in mind is they make a great gift item to build on and add to.  Plus, PKS Bronze tools have several benefits that make them worth every single copper penny that you spend on them.

Why copper?  There's several reasons to choose copper actually!  Copper gardening tools enrich the soil with trace elements and provide plants with essential nutrients creating ideal  conditions that are beneficial to micro-organisms within the soil.  And copper elements are more beneficial to the Earth and lead to healthier plants long-term.  The materials used to make these tools are hard-wearing and will come close to lasting a lifetime.  They'll stay free from rust and develop a natural patina which will only add to their beauty, making them look full of wisdom.  They can also be sharpened over and over again with a file or by peening (hammering the edge against steel) to keep them at their prime.

I know they're a bit pricey for an object that may end up living amid outdoor elements and covered in dirt, however, if you're an avid gardener or are looking to really get into gardening like my hubby is, then I would imagine you'd be convinced by now.  Just look at them!  How chic would any person look handling these beauties with their green thumb?!  Gardening has certainly gone glam, all thanks to the Germans!
