This weekend the hubby and I took the dogs for a weekend backpacking trip to John Muir Wilderness, extending along the crest of the Sierra Nevada, in the heart of Inyo National Forest. It was a chilly adventure with temps as low as 12 degrees at night and highs reaching only 55, and fires were not allowed. I'm actually still thawing out as I write this post! We made the most of our hiking excursion by exploring nearby lakes - Heart, Box, Long, Chickenfoot and Gem - while skipping a few rocks on them and taking in the scenery at an elevation of 11,000 feet. It was Hank's first camping adventure with us and he did superb! I documented the beauty of our surroundings in this photo journal of our trip, although, such pleasing landscapes have been found at each wilderness spot we've visited in California. She never disappoints - until next time!
