Hi.

I'm Bri Garbani, a designer + photographer living in San Diego, California. It's here that I express my passion for dogs, design + DIY through writing + photography. If you like what you see, you'll want to check back often as I have a constant need to create + Native Blonde is my prime creative outlet.

Grounds + Hounds

Friends, inspiration has struck.  Like lightning.

It’s pretty often that I am inspired to start a project.  And I enjoy many different kinds of them - from a DIY build to digitally designing something beautiful, accepting a new photography challenge or creating for the sake of creating – I live for it all. But, more often than not, life gets in the way of acting on this creativity.  Time is spent working, enough work makes me tired, momentum is lost, ideas become distant thoughts, and the daily hustle of life pushes the things I want to do in my free time out of reach and sometimes sight.

But not today.  Today, I am committing.  Even if I can only make it happen once in a blue moon, I’m headstrong on keeping my recent inspiration as ritual.

Allow me to elaborate.

Today I was inspired to create a series of posts.  Posts about how I choose to spend my personal down time.  And maybe, just maybe, help me cozy up to the concept of resembling a morning person (insert shudder sound here).

I like my city and have wanted to explore more of it since before I arrived here just over one year ago.  I like my dogs and I like going out in public with them as often as I can.  I'm sure that has something to do with why I was drawn to such a dog friendly location.  I like coffee, especially espresso, and the interior design aspect that goes into retail spaces such as coffee shops.  I also prefer to support local and independent establishments over big box stores.  Mix these things together and I give to you Grounds and Hounds – chronicles of coffee hunting with good company (in my opinion).

Whether I’m brainstorming, reading, writing, poking around on social media, or just relaxing, I will devote time to this practice with a dog or two in tow.  A method of meditation, if you will, to explore as many cups of coffee that San Diego can offer me. I encourage you to attempt a ritual all your own as well - get creative with it.  And if you're like me, you'll want to give it a fun little logo too.  See where it leads you.  I know I can’t wait to see what this caffeinated chronicle will bring my way.
