San Diego has turned Seattle-esque this week, almost as if on cue. The sun is gone and May Grey has taken its place. And until June Gloom passes, it likely won’t be back. Cloudy, overcast skies created by low-altitude clouds from the Pacific Ocean are blown into coastal regions by strong winds and often accompanied by a little fog and drizzle, hence the cute rhyming name.
Though San Diego is known for nearly perfect weather, I suppose I could cut her some slack during this springtime tradition of hers. Actually, it’s kind of nice to have a few months that resemble a season other than sunny and mild – and it’s a good reason to pull out my favorite cozy sweater, too.
Here’s to grey skies until July and to sending my sun shades on vacation...
