This past weekend the Mr. and I went whale watching on Super Bowl Sunday before the big game. Words cannot describe the excitement I felt when we saw the first of many marine mammals in the water that morning. Common dolphins, grey whales, sea lions and even pelicans were all within reach as we rocked through the waves of the Pacific Ocean. While on board I gained quite the education about grey whales. I won't bog you down with all the details, however, I find it quite fascinating that these whales travel a total of 14,000 miles to birth their calves in the warm waters off the coast of Baja, Mexico, they live in the wild to be anywhere from 55 - 70 years old and on average they weigh 40 tons. Pretty incredible, right?! The wildlife in the water, salt in the air, military aircraft overhead, breathtaking views of the San Diego skyline as well as the majestic mountains of Mexico definitely made it an adventure to remember. Although photos don’t do the experience justice, here’s a glimpse of what we saw.
