Vegas Birthday Bash
My thirtieth birthday – where do I begin?
THE INVITATION | I shipped white magnetic boxes containing gold foil shred, an invitation sparkling in glitter, a deck of limited edition playing cards and a set of gold metal dice to complete the package. I don’t know how anyone who received this invitation wasn’t able to reply on their response card with a big, fat Y. E. S. And I was oh-so-clever with the wording too! It read, “You’ve been dealt an invitation to Brittney’s 30th Birthday Party” and the response card displayed boxes to check that read, “I’m all in” or “I fold.”
THANKSGIVING DAY | Was spent walking Las Vegas Boulevard, exploring the Venetian, Caesar’s Palace, Palazzo, the Bellagio, Planet Hollywood and more. I did well gambling at blackjack and even expanded my gaming knowledge to roulette and craps where I inevitably lost most of my winnings. The hubby on the other hand seemed to have mastered craps and made a small fortune betting on a few football games too. We also window shopped and watched a holiday movie at the theater with two friends that arrived earlier that morning. It was my first Friendsgiving and I have to say, escaping the pressure of the obligatory traditional meal with family was a nice change. The four of us ate at French restaurant Alize, which had an incredible view of the city below. I unfortunately had to dismiss myself due to not feeling well but the hubby had my four course meal boxed and even brought back dessert that required a special key to open the packaging.
THE SUITE | With two bedrooms, a full kitchen, kitchenette, fireplace and two and a half bathrooms within 1,800 square feet, we had plenty of space to gather 13 people. Upon everyone’s arrival there was a champagne toast followed by a few hours of day drinking and an in-suite pizza party. Music played and photos were taken as some got to know each other and I was able to take time to catch up with good friends.
THE TOUR | Friday night was spent touring the city in all of its glory. Big Bus Tours took us on an open top bus down the entire strip and through downtown Vegas. Our tour guide was so animated and really made the event fun. Along the way we witnesses the iconic welcome sign, the fountain show, volcano show, a light show, famous wedding chapels, locations from movie scenes, television shows and more. Afterward, it was time to take in the sights from a new angle on the High Roller, the world’s largest observation wheel standing at 550 feet. This, my friends, had epic views of the entire city. Photos just don’t do it justice. After the ride we spent the night gambling the night away.
MY BIRTHDAY | I woke up before sunrise and found the city lights still flickering outside of my panoramic window view of the strip. After lounging around in the suite all morning, we hit a lunch buffet and played in the Palms Casino for a few hours. Three of the girls and I took a cab to Stripper 101 class where we learned the basics of lap and pole dancing. We did a few shots to build up our courage beforehand and though I do not have documentation to prove it, I did master The Fireman move and was constantly looking for a pole to demonstrate my skills for the rest of the trip. All 13 of us later met up at Joe’s Seafood at The Forum Shops where everyone raved about how fresh and delicious their meal was. The night wasn’t over yet though! After dinner we saw the O Show by Cirque de Soleil. It. Was. Spectacular. There were scenes in that show that I will remember forever. Pure magic. Up next was Ghostbar Nightclub. We danced and drank in a view of the strip that we had been admiring all weekend long and it was as breathtaking as the first time I saw it. And the people watching at the nightclub was unlike any I’ve ever seen before.
LAST DAY | It was hard to say goodbye on Sunday morning, but everyone that came to Vegas is a close friend and we keep in touch. Regardless, that didn’t stop me from shedding a few tears before our departure. As I write this, I cannot express the quantity and quality of fun I had with so many people that I care about, that care for me, dancing, gambling, eating, drinking, exploring and experiencing a trip together in an entirely new (to me) city. I only wish I had taken more photos of our time together in Sin City. Dear friends, thank you. Your presence made my 30th birthday absolutely unforgettable. I had the time of my life and I can’t wait to celebrate again with you all. Until next time!
